Stars and Strikes

Today I created a bowling cake for Sydney.  Sweet Sydney has been the recipient of some pretty hilarious experimental Loulu's cakes (one of which, a castle cake, I dropped on the floor at 2 am.  Had to start over and have it ready by 11 am.  That was a LONG night!!), all of which have been pink, purple, and green.  She is the girliest girl you'll ever meet, and she wanted to be quite sure that her bowling cake would suit her fanciness standards... I think we've done it. :-) Slightly giggling at the hand carved, rather ellipsoid, bowling ball.  You get the idea!
Happy Birthday sweet Sydney-- I cannot believe you are SEVEN!!!

Just for the Taste of It

.... "DIET COKE!" Visions of the Paula Abdul commercial popping into your head??

Today I delivered a cake for Courtney, a very very old dear family friend.  She grew up on the same street and was superfriends with my sister.  I tormented them endlessly trying to be just like them.  Her sweet mom is celebrating her 60th birthday today, and she is a Diet Coke ADDICT!  When I talked the cake over with Courtney, she wanted to incorporate that and have something out of the ordinary and fun. I think we did it!

Sour cream pound cake, fudge filling, buttercream with fondant accents.  "Coke" spill is piping gel.

Any Given Sunday

Sunday, I was excited to deliver a Falcons cake for Joey's 7th birthday.  He LOVES the Falcons, and his mommy and I traded ideas and decided on this one.  She asked me to incorporate his two favorite players, Matt Ryan and Michael Turner.  When little Joey saw his name on a jersey sandwiched between those two, he was ecstatic!  I was so happy to be able to see his reaction to it.  I hope that he and his guests had a wonderful time at his party.  Happy Birthday Joey, and GO FALCONS!! :-)

Lil' Dozer

Saturday, I had the pleasure of delivering a 2nd birthday cake for Micah.  He is a member of the "4th Generation Friends (aka the Baby Kloofs)"-- a group of people I love very dearly.  Our grandparents were friends, our parents were friends, we grew up together, and now our babies are growing up together.  Each year, Jill submits the wackiest possible idea for a cake for her boys-- the results of which have been the John Deere tractor and the crane you can see in my pictures.  This time, it was to be a bulldozer (I'm getting a definite machinery theme here....).  I think it came out pretty darn cute, Micah loved it, and I'd call that a success!  Can't wait to see what Jill dreams up for Collier's big day in June.  Perhaps something with a fog machine and fireworks??

A Bit of the Bubbly

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I am pleased to announce January's Flavor of the Month-- Champagne!  Nothing better than a New Year's Eve spent recipe-testing and finishing just in time to see the ball drop.

Champagne cake, champagne buttercream.  Fondant "Times Square Ball." Dusted with little edible glitter, just for fun. :-)
